Review – Hair of the Dog Ruth
From Hair of The Dog Brewing Co. – Ruth is a light and refreshing American Ale, made with pale malt and crystal hops. She was inspired by my Mother’s Mother, Granny Ruth because of her love and support. Don’t be Ruthless. Have one on Granny.
Hair of the Dog Brewing – Ruth – 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. 4.6% abv. Purchased at Whole Foods Market Arroyo – Pasadena, CA
Appearance: Pours a light, clear gold with a 1/4 inch of white foam.
Aroma: Lemon, lemon grass, and earthy, dry malt aromas.
Taste: A mixture of citrus and bitter, slightly metallic hops. A small amount of malt comes through, just a mouthful of crisp hops is what what you go away with.
Mouthfeel: Thin, crisp, and refreshing.
Overall: A really great, classic American Pale Ale. This beer showcases balanced hopping, and what a Pale Ale can be without a mountain of malt. If you like Firestone Walker Pale 31, this would also please you.
