Review – Great Divide Hibernation Ale
From Great Divide: A true precedent setter in the state’s craft beer history, Hibernation’s rich flavors and winter-warming heft created a stir upon the beer’s debut in 1995. Thirteen years later, Hibernation Ale is now one of the most sought-after winter beers in Colorado.
Great Divide Brewing Company – Hibernation Ale. 12oz bottle poured into a New Belgium beer glass. 8.1% abv.
Appearance: Dark borwn, 1/4 inch of tan head.
Aroma: Cocoa powder and cinnamon.
Taste: Chocolate, bitter hops. The cocoa flavor is lingers for quite a while.
Mouthfeel: Very fizzy and active.
Overall: Very tasty, very warming, however I was looking for more characteristics in the taste than what I wound up finding. I wish I had more to age.
