Goose Island Brewing – Goose Island Oatmeal Stout – 12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass, 5% Alc. by Vol.
Appearance: Dark almost black with a small tan head. Head quickly faded.
Smell: Sweet and slight roasted malt aroma. Hints of coffee and chocolate as well as…You guessed it..OATS!!
Taste: Sweet maltiness and a little bit creamy. Taste of oats was pretty apparent. Little bit of roastiness present.
Mouthfeel: Medium to Full bodied, a tad bit thick in the mouth, yet very smooth and creamy.
Drinkability: Overall a very good Oatmeal Stout. Nothing too exciting, but it was certainly not a disappointing beer. It seems there is a lot of competition out there with these types of brews. This was my first brew from Goose Island and it left me pretty excited to sample their other offerings..
