Review – Beer Valley Highway to Ale Barleywine
I came across a few beers that are new to me at the local Bevmo, made by Beer Valley Brewing, up in Oregon. CBD Jon brought one over, named Highway to Ale Barleywine. It is his favorite style, and it is something I favor as well. In the coming weeks, I will give their Pale Ale a crack.
Beer Valley Brewing Co. Highway to Ale Barleywine – 22oz bottle poured into a pint glass. 10.5%abv.
Appearance: Dark orange topped with a white pinstripe.
Aroma: Orange zest, maple syrup and rock sugar candy.
Taste: Sweet cereals and sugar malts up front. Finishes with moderate hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Thick but not gooey.
Overall: My first Beer Valley Brewing offering made a great first impression. While this brew leans towards a west coast barleywine in style, it doesn’t blow my face off. Share this with a friend.
