Review – Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale
This brew can be found almost anywhere in California, where finer brews are sold. Just recently, Bear Republic also started offering some of their beers in 12 oz bottles. I am accustomed to finding it in it’s 22 oz bottle, and that is how I acquired this one. If you like malty, hoppy, spicy goodnes, pick this up, as it is less expensive than most 22oz bombers these days.
Appearance: Dark Red, tan head, very cloudy. Only at the bottom of a pint glass, will any light get through. The head is about 1/2″ thick and leaves webbing after taking a few sips.
Aroma: Almost no aroma on this particular pour. What aroma I did get was a spicy cinnamon and sweetness.
Taste: Sweet syrup and malts. Finishes off with a mouthful of hops that really gives a delayed action. You find yourself piqued by the initial sweetness, but then you are introduced to the west coast hop profile found in so many California brews.
Mouthfeel: Not too thick and not too thin. Almost juicy but more sticky than anything.
Overall: Fantastic hoppy, malty, sweet and spicy beer. Very underrated in my opinion.
