Portsmouth Brewery – Kate The Great Russian Imperial Stout – Vintage 2010 – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 10.79% abv. From online trade
Appearance: Pours a dark brown with no head.
Aroma: Herbal hops and light amount of burnt roast.
Taste: Herbal, vegetal and spicy hops, big burnt roast, dark chocolate and ash.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: A very solid, balanced Imperial Stout. I know this wasn’t super fresh, but the hops were standing tall in this beer. I want to end this set of tasting notes with a question: Is this beer worth standing in line at 3am for? The person who I traded with to get this did exactly that.
