Portsmouth Barleywine

From Portsmouth Brewery – A deep amber, full bodied, intensely bold beer that is made to show off the true qualities of the malts used.  Flavors of figs and dates and malt sweetness  predominate with enough earthiness from the hops to balance this beer.

Portsmouth Brewery – Portsmouth Barleywine – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 11.5% abv. From Online Trade.

Appearance: Pours brown with a mere film of white swirls.

Aroma: Spiced pear and burnt sugar.

Taste: Brown sugar, caramelized fruit and booze.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied and very coating.

Overall: Nice, bold and balanced.  I was very impressed with my first Portsmouth beer.
