Pizza Port (Carlsbad) Farley Barrel Aged Barleywine

From Dan – Here’s a beer we got to try at The 2010 San Diego Strong Ale Festival, Pizza Port Farley. Farley is brewed at the Carlsbad location and  is a barley wine aged in bourbon barrels. You should check out all the Pizza Port locations during San Diego Beer Week. Cheers!

Pizza Port Brewing Carlsbad – Pizza Port Farley – On tap poured into a tasting glass. – 13% abv.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a microstripe of beige. Looks thick!

Aroma: Chocolate and wood.

Taste: Bourbon, vanilla, caramel, oak. Finishes boozy and bitter.

Mouthfeel: Warm and goopy.

Overall: Very tasty, really big, and could use another 2 years on it.
