Midnight Sun Oak Aged Monk’s Mistress
From Midnight Sun – This version of Monk’s Mistress – aged in American Oak Barrels – takes seduction to the next level. Its dark, daunting flavors become softer, rounder and more fascinating as they meld with toasted oak and its prior tenant. This temptation is beyond irresistible.
Midnight Sun Brewing Co. – Midnight Sun Oak Aged Monk’s Mistress – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 11.5% abv.
Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a thin creamy cap of white.
Aroma: Very faint roast and dark sugar.
Taste: Alcohol and roast at first. Dark fruit and burnt dark sugar. Light woody cherry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, modest carbonation.
Overall: A very balanced big beer. The oak seemed to be subtle in this session, and let the other ingredients shine through.
