Melvin Brewing Asterisks (*)

Product description: Our award winning 2x4s cousin. The * double ipa uses copious amounts of mosaic hops that give this beer strong notes of tropical fruit, stone fruit, mango and berries. Brewed with a blend of Great western 2-row, light crystal, mosaic hops and some top secret stuff.

Melvin Brewing – Melvin Asterisks – 12 oz. can poured into specialty glassware 9.5% abv.
Appearance: Pours a pale gold with a clear body. It has active rising carbonation with  a modest tight white cap of foam that retains.

Aroma:  Pineapple, sativa, orange rind.

Taste: Pineapple, mandarin orange, pale biscuit malt, nice bitter finish. A touch of alcohol shines through but nothing to crazy.

Mouthfeel:  Dry, medium bodied juicy.

Overall: This is a classic west coast approach to the double IPA, where it’s plenty sweet, but only to carry the load of hops on its back, and in the end, would be considered a hop bomb rather than a malt bomb.
