Lost Abbey Russ
From TFP – This beer first hit the scene during Stone Sourfest 2010 weekend. I missed out on it that weekend, but was able to try it at a later date at their tap room.
Port Brewing/Lost Abbey – Lost Abbey Russ – On tap at Lost Abbey tap room. Abv. Unknown – My guess is between 5-7% abv.
Appearance: Pours exactly like strawberry lemonade. You can see a gathering of strawberry seeds at the bottom of the glass. Very murky and chunky looking.
Aroma: Fruit roll-up and or strawberry lemonade. Slight yeasty funk in there as well.
Taste: Tannins, tartness and big time strawberry.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, refreshing, juicy, with modest carbonation.
Overall: I was floored by how good this was. Could it be more sour, eh, I’m happy with it as it is now, a little more funk or twang wouldn’t hurt it, but not necessary for me. I hope they bottle this, so more people can try it.
