Jester King Wytchmaker Rye IPA
From Jester King – Earthy rye and piny hop flavor and aroma meet spicy, funky characteristics from our farmhouse yeast in this American-inspired farmhouse ale.
Jester King Craft Brewery – Jester King Wytchmaker Rye IPA – 750 ml. bottle poured into a pint glass. 7.3% abv.
Appearance: Pours a hazy amber gold with a dense cap of white foam.
Aroma: Citrusy danky hop goodness. After going through a half dozen JK beers, I can tell you their farmhouse yeast is right there in the back seat and a touch of caramel as well.
Taste: A big mouthful of citrusy hops, some spicy and semi sweet caramel malts. Finishes with moderate lingering hop bitterness. There is a little sour twang in there as well, probably some of that JK farmhouse character.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, juicy, soft carbonation.
Overall: Pretty solid. As an IPA, this isn’t high on my list, but if I am to view it as a American hop forward farmhouse ale, it’s pretty interesting.
