Green Flash Rayon Vert
From Green Flash – If Green Flash were founded in historical Belgium, Rayon Vert would have been our flagship brew. A bold layering of hops finds balance from traditional malts. Bottle conditioning with fresh ale yeast and Brettanomyces finishes the beer, adding a delightful effervescence, dryness and continuously evolving character. Rayon Vert is Green Flash.
Green Flash Brewing – Green Flash Rayon Vert – 12 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 7% abv.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber gold with a big foamy sudsy white head.
Aroma: Big pungent pineapple brett, grapefruit, grandmas house.Perfumy. Biscuity malt.
Taste: Dry pale malt, super brett forward, huge grapefruit hops. Finishes dry and bitter and bretty.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, spicy lively carbonation. Also juicy at times.
Overall: Amazing. Dry, spicy, hoppy, aromatic as can be. As of this writing, perfectly executed. I think Green Flash’s trademark hopping puts this beer at the top of any attempt at a bretty pale/bretty IPA. Green Flash seems to suggest this beer will develop over time, I can’t keep them long enough to find out.
