Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Backyard Rye
From Goose Island – Always on the lookout for the next thing they can throw in a barrel, our brewers actually looked no further than their own backyard for this release – literally. Inspired by the berries they remember first eating from the trees in their yards; this Bourbon County release is full of the dark, spicy, and pleasantly sweet flavors of mulberries, marionberries, and boysenberries. This trio of fruit nicely rounds out the spice and heat of the rye whiskey barrels in which they were aged, resulting in a smooth, jammy stout perfect for sipping on your back porch.
Goose Island Brewing – Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Backyard Rye – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 13.9% abv.
Appearance: Pours dark brown with no head.
Aroma: Raspberry jam, chocolate covered raspberry jellies. Bourbon.
Taste: Chocolate, bourbon, fresh tangy berry, oak , dark red oak wine.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied,low carbonation.
Overall: This is just taking the already sweet BCS to sweeter levels. It’s fun in a 2 oz. pour, but nothing you would drink much more of. I prefer BCS straight up.
