Flying Fish Exit 1 Bayshore Oyster Stout
From Flying Fish Brewing Company – Exit 1 is brewed with 100 Delaware Bay oysters per batch, lending their mellow ocean flavor and one-of-a-kind creaminess to the brew and resulting in a beer that is rich, soft and of course, a perfect complement to a plate of oysters. The beer bears the name of Exit 1 because it is the final turnpike exit before drivers enter the state of Delaware.
Flying Fish Brewing Flying Fish Exit 1 Bayshore Oyster Stout – 750 ml bottle poured into an Imperial pint glass. 7% abv.
Appearance: Pours a beautiful black with a super active creamy head. Once the show is over, a 1/4 inch dense creamy layer remains.
Aroma: Dry roasty malt and touches of coffee and chocolate.
Taste: Dry roasty malt, sharp spicy (almost metallic) bitter hops, and a layer of spiciness that I’ve encountered in beers with Chipotle peppers.
Mouthfeel: Dry, and spicy warmth on the back of my throat.
Overall: A fantastic beer, complex beer that should go with a hearty plate of food. Seems like a lot of care was put into this, and could have easily been a throw everything at the wall Imperial Stout.
