Elevation Apis IV
From Elevation Beer Co. – Apis, the genus of the honeybee, is in homage to the hardworking honeybees of Colorado that provided the caramelized honey we use in making this fantastic beer. IV is a nod to the four people who came together to turn Elevation from a dream into a reality as well as to the beer style this Belgian Dark Strong Ale loosely adheres to. This beer is designed to be the perfect way to enjoy a cool Colorado summer night with friends, dreaming up your next great idea on a porch or next to a campfire much like we did. Drink big, dream big.
Elevation Beer Co. – Elevation Apis IV – 750 ml. bottle poured into a goblet. 10.7% abv.
Appearance: Pours dark brown with a quickly vanishing head.
Aroma: A box of chocolates and sassafras. I am aware that somebody makes a quad called “a box of chocolates”, and that’s exactly what my beak smells in this instance.
Taste: Dark chocolate, bread crust, spicy hops, caramelized dark fruit.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with very lively carbonation.
Overall: This hit the mark on a quad, very rich and malty. For 10.7%, I was impressed with the absence of alcohol heat/booziness. Great job from these rookies.
