El Segundo Two 5 Left Double IPA

From El Segundo Brewing – To celebrate our successful first year we are producing our very first Double IPA, “Two 5 Left”. The name “Two 5 Left” references the runway that directs airplanes to take off right over our heads in El Segundo. We always intended to name a beer after this unique El Segundo feature and what a perfect fit. A monster hop bomb with a blend of Simcoe, Citra, and Cascade exploding out of your glass.. one whiff and you may have the sensation of a giant aircraft whooshing over your head. Lean, dry, and bracingly hoppy, as one may expect from this brashly West Coast hop head brewery.

Appearance:  Pours a dark amber gold with an attractive retaining white cap.

Aroma: Sweet caramel malt, mango, grapefruit, dried pineapple.

Taste:  Caramel malt, rock sugar, grapefruit, finishes out with some lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel:  Sticky with modest carbonation.

Overall: While a little bit sweet for me, it was very fresh, hoppy and highly available without any abrasive qualities .
