Devil’s Canyon Full Boar Scotch Ale
From Devil’s Canyon – Full Boar Scotch Ale is deeply malted and caramel apparent with overtones of chocolate and a slight hint of a mild, smoky flavor.
Devil’s Canyon Brewing – Devil’s Canyon Full Boar Scotch Ale – On tap at the brewery, poured into a pint glass. 7.4% abv.
Appearance: Pours a dark red with a tight creamy white head.
Aroma: Big beautiful vinous fruit and burnt sugar. Not much hops in the nose.
Taste: Vinous fruit, banana, burnt caramel, spicy hops.
Mouthfeel: Full mouthfeel, the rich malt coats and lingers. Modest spicy carbonation.
Overall: One of the best Scotch ales I’ve tried. The bar has been set for me by Alesmith Wee Heavy, and I believe Full Boar is within reach of that bar. It’s not very alcoholic or warm, but you are well aware you are in possession of a big beer. I heard on good authority there is a bourbon barrel aged version of this, would LOVE to try it.
