From Deschutes – XXIII. So where to next? What’s 2011’s rich, imperial take on Black Butte Porter? Just for kicks, you dream. Orange zest perhaps? From Spanish Oranges. Seville, to be exact. And Chocolate nibs. Pampered nibs from the artisanal alchemists at Theo. Maybe some chilies? Pasilla Negra only, please. That would be crazy wouldn’t it? Welcome to crazy. Get it while you can.

Deschutes Brewery – Deschutes Black Butte XXIII – On tap at in Denver – 11% abv.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a nice retaining tan head.

Aroma: Gracefully aged imperial porter, dark fruit ,sweet vanilla bourbon notes.

Taste: Alcohol,chocolate,roast, raisin,dried orange peel and lots of vanilla.

Mouth: Full bodied with creamy carbonation.

Overall:  Yummy, boozy, decadent. It’s ready to drink now, I can’t imagine it getting any tastier.
