Cascade The Vine
From Cascade – This Northwest Style Sour Ale is a blend of soured Triple, Blonde Quad and Golden ales that have been refermented with the fresh pressed juice of white wine grapes. The beer spent more than six months of lactic fermentation and aging in small oak barrels. 9.2% ABV
Cascade Brewing – Cascade The Vinte (Vintage 2009) 750 ml. bottle poured into a goblet. 8.33% abv. Thanks Stoad.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy gold with a tight white film for head.
Aroma: White wine, oak and funk.
Taste: Sweet lemon, citric acid, slight sweet malt, corn and lots of tannins in the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with modest carbonation.
Overall: A nice puckering treat. Very complex.
Bonus: I got to try the latest vintage, and I can say based on that, that the beer gets more sour with time. I might even like it fresher than aged, so I encourage you to try it both ways if you can.
