Beachwood Mocha Machine
From Beachwood Brewing – Mocha Machine is a well-engineered endeavor in massive aromatics and rich flavors. The porter—which took home the 2014 World Beer Cup Bronze Medal in the Coffee Beer category—is brewed with an array of British and German malts and infused with masterfully roasted coffee from Costa Mesa California’s Portola Coffee Lab. Then aged in cacao nibs from Ecuador, this burly brew finishes with a dimension of fudge awesomeness.
Beachwood Brewing – Beachwood Mocha Machine – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 9.2% abv.
Appearance: Pours root beer brown with no head.
Aroma: Cold brewed coffee. Quite remarkable. Tiramisu, sweet ripe cherry
Taste: Fresh Cold brewed coffee, chocolate malt, modest European hop spice. Alcohol well hidden, and low acidity on the coffee side.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Prickly carbonation
Overall: Just blown away by this beer and it’s complexity. There are so many coffee beers out there that tastes stale, over roasted or just unbalanced. The coffee was the star of this show and made me wish I had a few gallons of it.
