Avery El Gose
Avery Brewing – Avery El Gose – 12 oz. can poured into specialty glassware 4.5% abv.
Product description: A timeless, traditional tart gose (goes-uh) with its zesty and salty disposition is brightened by a tangy citrus twist. A bier for every día!
I sampled this as a 12oz can (Packaged on 07/13/16) full pour into a lambic tumbler. The beer is a fairly hazy, glowing straw color with sparkling carbonation generating large foam initially. Acid content cuts the head quickly to almost nothing.
The aroma is a surprising mix of cinnamon apple pie and spiced baked pear – certainly fruitier and more estery than expected. The flavor is essentially flawless with dialed back lactic acidity and a fairly full lactic yogurty body. A crude comparison could be diet peach lemonade. It is certainly refreshing with no sugar content and acid content low enough to drink quickly as a summer beach quencher. Lime and sea salt character are more integrated than standout – I would personally not mention these flavors if I sampled this blind.
Overall, this one is quite a success and a nice change of pace for Avery. Widely distributed canned gose, especially one this good, is a major asset to craft beer. This one is definitely recommended.
