Anderson Valley Winter Solstice
Anderson Valley: From the first sip of Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale, your senses will be aroused with the vision of a glowing fire, warming the hearth and home, as gently drifting snow flakes silently blanket the trees outside. Each lingering sip will gently warm your soul with thoughts of family and friends, gathering around the table for the feast.
Anderson Valley Brewing Co. – Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale – 6.9% abv.
Appearance: A dark auburn with a small amount of light getting through. Tops off with a creamy 1/4 inch tan head.
Aroma: Apples, cinnamon, gingerbread, and a bit of hop spice.
Taste: Chewy caramel, gingerbread, hot cocoa mix, red apple skins, and mildly bitter hops.
Mouthfeel: Heavy, but not thick. Lightly fizzy.
Overall: I was very impressed with this, as it seemed almost as complex as a fine Old Ale. This beer blends in, amongst a shelf full of fancy holiday brews from everyone else. Look harder, and pick up a six pack of this.
