Wynkoop Brewing Brings Back Cottonwood Organic White Fundraiser Beer
Denver, CO – We are now celebrating the return of Cottonwood Organic White, an organic fundraiser beer we first released last March.
An unfiltered, American-style wheat beer, Cottonwood Organic White is made with organic malts and wheat, kaffir lime leaf and organic agave nectar. The custom-made beer is fermented with an American strain of wheat beer yeast and is 4.6% ABV.
Designed for springtime quaffing, Cottonwood Organic White is a refreshing yet complex beer with a creamy body, bready malt and wheat flavors, restrained hops and vibrant citrus notes.
As we did in 2012, Wynkoop is donating one dollar from the sale of each in-house draft of the beer to Denver’s Cottonwood Institute, an environmental education nonprofit group that works with inner-city students and local schools in the Denver/Boulder area.
“This beer was very popular last year in its debut,” says head brewer Andy Brown, who developed the recipe for the beer. “So we’re happy to be bringing it back. It’s a wheat beer that needs no lime or orange slice added to it,” he adds, “because the kaffir lime leaf gives it just the right amount of built-in citrus character.”
We’re also donating the profits from special glasses and T-shirts bearing the beer’s logo, which was created by local design house AOR. You can find these items in our upstairs merchandise department.
“Last year the beer was a great help in raising funds and awareness about the Cottonwood Institute,” says Cottonwood founder Ford Church. “With school budgets being cut more and more, partnerships like this one with Wynkoop are really valuable in funding our efforts with low-income students.”
“Wynkoop has a long history of sustainability programs,” Church adds, “and the brewpub has been green movement leader since its beginning. So we get to partner with a company that shares our thinking and walks the talk. That’s crucial for us.”
