Wicked Weed’s First Terra Locale Beer: Hipster Nouveau
(Asheville,NC) – A summer bottle series “Terra Locale” is emerging from our brett program. The series comes out of a love for all ingredients local and a desire to craft wild ales that highlight North Carolina’s agrarian heritage.
The first bottle in the series, “Hipster Nouveau” is a brett saison finished with 75 pounds of McConnell Farm’s Rhubarb and brewed with River Bend Malt as collaborative effort between Wicked Weed and Fonta Flora Breweries.
Bright, and effervescent this brew offers up rhubarb tartness with notes of green, stalky sharpness and a smooth mouthfeel from the 6-row Riverbend Malt.
The “Hipster Nouvous” release is scheduled for Friday, June 20th where it will be featured on draft tapped at 6pm alongside the bottles.
“We wanted to take a style (saison) that is super important to who we are as a brewery and take it back to its agrarian roots. We used grains that are less modified and more controlled because they are grown in our area. We used local produce because it’s in season and readily available just down the road. In keeping with tradition we untallied wild yeast and only brewed small batches,” said Walt Dickinson, creator of the series.
