Thomas Creek Set to Launch Atypical Series
From the latest Thomas Creek Brewery Newsletter, we get details on the new Atypical Series, and an introduction to the first beer in the series, Conduplico Immundus Monachus.
While most people were planning their Thanksgiving menu or heading out to the grocery store, we were bottling up the initial run of our Atypical Series. For two days we hand packaged 75 cases of Conduplico Immundus Monachus (latin for “double dirty monk”) in 750 ml corked and caged bottles. These bottles will become available at the brewery and other retail locations shortly; we are currently waiting on final label approval.
Conduplico is the first beer in our Atypical Series, a series of beers that will feature less well known styles, unusual takes on styles, and completely new styles of beer. Conduplico is the imperial version of Dirty Monk, our Belgian-style porter, and it is sure to please. Full of roasted, chocolate, nutty, and malty flavors, but balanced by a fruity tartness from the acidulated malt and high gravity Trappist yeast. These rich flavors easily disguise the 10% ABV, making this beer devilishly drinkable.
We are currently working on the next beer in the Atypical Series, a banana split inspired stout. This dark, rich, chocolately concoction has a distinct banana flavor from the use of a new German yeast we are testing. The test batch will soon become available at our growler station, but it could be some time before this brew makes it into a bottle. While delicious, we still want to tweek the recipe before it officially joins the lineup. Be on the lookout in 2011 for this and many other beers in the Atypical Series.
