San Marcos, CA, — In the 7th Annual San Diego International Beer Competition, The Lost Abbey was awarded 6 total medals, leading all other breweries and continuing the trend of being one of the most decorated in the history of this particular competition.
“Year after year, our brands continue to show their excellence by earning awards in the competition” said Tomme Arthur, Director of Brewery Operations for The Lost Abbey. “Our brewers are rightfully proud of their accomplishments and look forward to the results each June”.
The Lost Abbey received awards for: Track #10 (Bronze – Unique ingredient Beer), Saint’s Devotion (Silver – Hybrid Belgian-Style Ale), Track #9 (Silver – Other Sour Beer), Framboise de Amorosa (Bronze – Other Sour Beer), Inferno (Bronze – Belgian-Style Pale Strong Ale), and Serpent’s Stout (Silver – Imperial Stout). The six total awards keep The Lost Abbey in the competition for the title of “Champion Brewery”, which will be announced on Saturday, June 22nd during the San Diego International Beer Festival.
Last year in the 2012 San Diego International Beer Competition, The Lost Abbey / Port Brewing took home 8 medals, including “Best of Show” for The Lost Abbey’s Carnevale Ale, a Brett-conditioned Saison. The trophy, a miniature version of a fermenter tank, is a perpetual award that is kept for an entire year, and then given to the next year’s Best of Show winner. The Lost Abbey / Port Brewing decided to showcase their time with the award ala the Stanley Cup celebration, letting each brewer take the trophy for a day.
