Surly Brews Exclusive Beer for Target Field – Bandwagon IPA
Surly Brewing starts pouring beer at Target Field at its stand in section 124, with rotating varieties throughout the 2012 Minnesota Twins season, including: Cynic, Bender, Coffee Bender, Bitter Brewer and Hell. It will not include Furious – because of shortages on specific hops and an already long waiting list for the beer, Surly couldn’t commit to getting Furious to Target Field this season.
But, it’s a unique opportunity so Surly Brewing brewed a special beer for the 2012 season, which will be exclusive to Target Field – Bandwagon, a West Coast India Pale Ale. This IPA is brewed with pale and crystal malts, centennial and chinook hops, and fermented with English ale yeast. Bandwagon is pale gold in color and has flavors of caramelly biscuits slathered in pineapple-orange marmalade.
Omar Ansari, Founder and President of Surly Brewing Co., said: “This is the first time we’ve made a West Coast IPA – it’s the trendiest American craft beer style to complement the great American pastime. We’re psyched to be bringing our first new beer we’ve brewed in a while to Target Field – it’s a hoppy ale that’ll go well with an afternoon of watching the Twins.
“We called it Bandwagon because right now there’s a lot of bandwagons to jump on, so it really named itself. We’ve got the craft beer bandwagon, the IPA bandwagon, the Surly bandwagon and even the Twins bandwagon. Well now we’re here, so it’s time to get on the Bandwagon while there’s still room.”
