Surly Brewing News for February 2010!
From Omar Ansari’s Newsletter. Omar forgot the most important links in his newsletter, so we’ll help him out a bit. Surly Facebook and Surly Twitter . Make sure to add them!
Hello Surly Nation,
Wow, has it really been since November since I sent out an email? Now that we finally have a working Facebook page, a frequently used Twitter site, and a retooled web-site, I must admit that it is difficult to find the time to write emails. I promise we won’t jump into more social media sites that allow us to tell the same story in 4 different ways. But did you hear about the web-site? It’s new! Check it out at www.surlybrewing.com. We spent a lot of time working on making it more useful for Surly Nation. A few changes worth noting:
-News, Events, Twitter Feed & Blog so you can stay up to date on Surly events
-The web-site is split down into 3 areas; Brewery, Beer & Surly Nation
-Videos of the Surly Crew
-More info on how to sign up for a tour
-More info and specs on all our beers
-An on-line Surly finder for both liquor stores and bars!
-A link to our iPhone Surly beer finder
-In the Nation section, you can upload Surly photos
-A link to our flickr site
-A new Surly merchandise store with streamlined ordering and more swag
-Surly Gives a Damn. We need to spend a little more time on this item, because it is a new project for us. SuperSurlyFan Jon Jackson spoke with some friends about doing some volunteer work in the name of Surly in the community. We had been talking about doing something like that for awhile, so Jon’s suggestion really kick-started the program. So there are 2 parts of the Surly Gives a Damn program:
#1-Donations. We get asked quite frequently for beer donations for events, merchandise for auctions and sponsorship dollars. I had trouble getting back to all the people that requested help and there was not a real good way to handle the process. We decided to bring in Mary Sellke (our Surly Darkness Day & SurlyFest coordinator) to run this program. We now have set up an on-line form for donation requests. Our goal is to donate over $30,000 to local charities, groups and events in 2010.
#2-Surly Gives a Damn – we will be doing volunteer service projects in the community. Our 1st one will be sorting food for the Emergency Food Network on March 3rd. We just got our 50th volunteer this morning, so thanks for your support. After that, we are gonna drink some beer. Do Some Good and Drink Some Beer. We are planning on doing events every other month, so check back to see what is coming up next on the Surly Gives a Damn page.
OK, enough about the web-site.
I encourage people to follow us on Facebook or Twitter. We post all the latest beer events, firkin pourings and news on those sites. We have so many firkin tappings and special beer tappings that we can no longer send out email notices for them all.
See you drinking!
