Stone Imperial Russian Stout 2011 Now Available
ESCONDIDO, CA – The 2011 vintage of Stone Brewing Co.’s prized Stone Imperial Russian Stout is now available. And debuting alongside it is a special one-time release: Stone BELGO Anise Imperial Russian Stout.
The classic Stone Imperial Russian Stout—now in its 11th release—is one of the world’s highest rated beers, garnering a perfect score of 100 on RateBeer.com as well as backflips and praise from TheFullPint.com. “This year’s version is full-bodied… very rich and smooth,” says Head Brewer Mitch Steele. “The taste is all about malt, with coffee and dark roasted malt flavors in the forefront, a subtle yeastiness mid-palate, and hops present on the back end.”
Stone BELGO Anise Imperial Russian Stout is brewed as part of Stone’s “Odd Beers for Odd Years” program—which introduces “odd” versions of their classic beers in odd years (2011, 2013, 2015…). It begins as the rich, dark, intensely aromatic Stone Imperial Russian Stout, but is then fermented with a Belgian yeast strain, and tweaked with star anise and oak chips, adding a lingering blend of vanilla and licorice notes to the palate.
“They’re both ready to drink now,” Steele continues, “but like all of our Stone Imperial Russian Stout releases, they will continue to age and mature for many years.”
