Short’s Brewing Successfully Raises Funds for NMMBA
(Bellaire, MI) – Riders took to Glacial Hills under sunny skies and brilliant fall colors this past Sunday afternoon for a group ride to raise funds for the Vasa Winter Single Track grooming program. This program will launch during the 2014 / 2015 winter season and will provide the community with an official fat bike trail.
A post ride party was held at Short’s Brewing Company in Bellaire. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Northern Michigan Mountain Bike Association to help cover the capital expense of purchasing a utility snowmobile and grooming equipment.
Funds raised by the pub were rounded up to $7,000 and another $154 was taken in via cash donations to NMMBA. When asked about Short’s involvement with fundraising efforts Brian Beckwith, company CFO, said, “Many of us at Short’s are avid fat bikers and we are thrilled to be able to utilize these trails in the winter. Additionally, NMMBA shares our vision of making this region a year-round epicenter for outdoor recreation, so this was an important way for us to support that vision. The Vasa is clearly an asset to our community and we want to help increase access to it whenever possible.”
“We are overwhelmed by the response of the riders and participants that came out.” Said Glen Ruczynski, “Short’s has always been a strong supporter of ours, but the donation of the pub proceeds for the evening was beyond anything we could have imagined.”
