Schlafly Beer Introduce Noble Lager & Tasmanian IPA
(ST. LOUIS; September 20, 2016)— Schlafly Beer launches the third brew of its seasonal “Lager Loop” with the new Noble Lager, a traditional lager with a medium-bodied malt character evened out with proper bitterness from German hops. In addition to the “Lager Loop,” Schlafly continues its IPA Series with the return of Tasmanian IPA (TIPA), the acclaimed beer showcasing Galaxy hops from Australia. Both beers are available now across Schlafly’s distribution area.
“Our rotating lager and IPA series allow our brewing team to explore the nuances of the styles to offer uniquely, distinctive beers. With these series, there is always an IPA or lager available throughout the year, but each beer tells a unique story,” says Ambassador Brewer Stephen Hale. “The Noble Lager is a true appreciation of the traditional style while Tasmanian IPA showcases our close relationship with Australian hop farmers. We were one of the first to use Galaxy hops, and our experience with its unique tropical fruit characteristics is the reason TIPA is one of our most anticipated seasonal releases.”
For more about the beers:
Noble Lager (5.0% ABV, 30 IBUs): Brewed with the highest quality noble hops from Europe, this take on a traditional lager is rich in hop aroma, without being too bitter. Light-golden in color, the beer has an invigorating crisp finish. Magnum and Tettnang hop varieties from Germany bring both floral notes and a definitive earthiness, while the Lubin hop, traditionally used in lagers, rounds out the medium-bodied malt character. The noble Hallertau hop lends a hint of spice for a smooth and balanced beer–everything a European lager should be.
Tasmanian IPA (7.2% ABV, 65 IBUs): This aromatic ale is heavy on Australian Galaxy hops for a beer balanced in bitterness with recognizable tropical notes. Recognized as one of Food & Wine’s Best IPAs in America, TIPA’s ingenuity comes from Schlafly’s younger generation of brewers who recognized that sometimes bigger is better, creating a beer that’s powerfully hoppy and dangerously drinkable.
Noble Lager joins winter’s White Lager, an unfiltered Kellerbier / Zwickelbier, and the Helles-style Summer Lager available in the spring. Tasmanian IPA completes the year’s rotation of Farmhouse IPA, a dry-hopped farmhouse ale, and the Pacific Northwest hop-packed American IPA.
Noble Lager will be available until the end of November while TIPA will be be available throughout the rest of the year. Both beers can be purchased on draft or in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles at the Bottleworks or Tap Room locations. The six-packs ($9.99 and $10.99 suggested retail, respectively) are also available across the brewery’s entire distribution region.
