Pike Brewing – Auld Acquaintance Returns for 2010
SEATTLE, WA -Each year when the frost is on the pumpkin, Pike Brewing Company reintroduces an “auld” friend, Pike Auld Acquaintance, Hoppy Holiday Ale.
The holidays bring old friends together to toast the season with delicious beer and dine on hearty fare. Traditionally winter ales were brewed to accompany the meal rather than to enjoy as a digestive.
By contrast, at 5.0% Alcohol by Volume, Pike Auld Acquaintance is a holiday session beer with warm shades of amber malt, sprightly effervescence, and a spicy nose. In addition to local Yakima Valley hops, Auld Acquaintance is round with a biscuity malt flavor with hints of dried orange peel, coriander, cinnamon and nutmeg, each subtly contributing to its complexity.
Bottles and draft are available in our local markets of the Pacific Northwest. You will find it in restaurants and retailers in our 22 oz. Dinner Size bottles throughout Pike’s broader marketing area*.
Charles and Rose Ann Finkel founded the Pike Brewing Company in 1989 in the La Salle Hotel in the Pike Place Public Market. In 1996 they moved Pike to its current location on First Avenue between Pike and Union and opened the Pike Pub. The Pub features local, sustainable pub fare. Housed within the Pub is the Pike Microbrewery Museum.
