Oskar Blues Burning CAN (Not Justa) Beer Festival – August 10-11, 2018
(Brevard, NC) – Oskar Blues Brewery’s Burning CAN (Not Justa) Beer Festival is back in 2018 at the scenic REEB Ranch. The weekend-long lawn jam includes a beer fest with over 50 craft-canning breweries, internationally touring bands, camping, food trucks, and plenty of mountain sports to get cans moving – all based at the foot of DuPont State Forest. It’s poppin’ off August 10-11.
The festival cracks open Friday with live music by extremely danceable hometown band Supatight. Then, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe serves up delicious funky soul to get the crowd in the Burning CAN state of mind. Friday night’s sound smorgasbord culminates in a groovy, funky main course by headliner Lettuce. With soaring horns and an epic rhythm section, Lettuce throws down the groove to set you up for the best weekend of the year.
Visitors whose dancin’ shoes are too burnt out to get ’em home Friday night can camp out before getting after it early Saturday morning. Rise and ride with a group mountain bike and group road bike ride organized by REEB Cycles. Folks can participate in a trail run led by Wild Bill, and even paddle the French Broad River. The REEB Ranch bike park will be open for those who want to get funky on the dual slalom course, the pumptrack, or the skillz area. Then, peeps can limber up with a yoga session before they taste over 200 beers from the nation’s best canned craft breweries.
Once everyone is nice and thirsty from the outdoor activities, the top will pop on the main event – Saturday afternoon’s beer fest with more than fifty breweries pouring exclusively from CANs at the region’s sole can-only beer festival. Mouth holes will be introduced to craft beer from all over the East Coast and beyond. What’s the deal with cans? Oskar Blues Brewery canned the Original Craft Beer in a Can, Dale’s Pale Ale, over fifteen yeers ago, igniting the craft can revolution that continues today. Cans are infinitely recyclable – not to mention light and portable to suit every adventurous craft beer lover’s lifestyle.
Late-night ’70’s style rock n’ roll by The National Reserve and then high-energy trio Mo Lowda & The Humble will heat up the Burning CAN stage on Saturday night during the craft beer revelry. A full lineup of bands and Saturday night’s headliner will be announced in mid-June. It’ll be well worth the wait.
