Oakshire Brewing News – Hellshire II and More
We caught up with Matt at Oakshire Brewing, and he filled us in on news regarding brewery expansion, new single batch beers and the pending release of Hellshire II.
New Staff
This year we hired a sales manager, Cameron Langham to manage our growth across Oregon and beyond. This week we hired a NW brand Manager, Micah Bell. He will support Portland, Vancouver WA, and our soon to be sales in the Seattle area. We have signed a distribution agreement and are going to start shipping beer into Washington very shortly.
Brewery Expansion
We had a 80 barrel bright tank built for us by Metalcraft fabrication in Portland. We’ve also ordered two 80 bbl fermentors to be delivered this fall. We are currently operating at full capacity and need the new tanks to add more volume. We have added two full time brewers to the staff as well. We should surpass 5,000 barrels this year.
Single Batch Beers
We continue to put out draft only, one time only, single batch beers. We’ve made 20 in the first half of 2011.
Many of them have been for special events, anniversarys, beer weeks, or collaboration brews. Our next big project Celebrates Eugene Water and Electric Board’s (EWEB) 100th anniversary. We will be putting out three distinctly different beers, all named by EWEB employes. The first, released in July on draft is a NW pale ale. The second in Sept. in 22 ounce bottles is an Oktoberfest, and the third in Novemeber is a cork and caged wild beer. Very limited release. Good water=good beer.
Hellshire
Hellshire II is coming, likely in November. It is a Bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout.
