Night Shift Brewing Announces Huge Expansion Project
(Everett,MA) – Night Shift Brewing just signed a 10-year lease on a 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Chelsea, MA. This effectively doubles the brewery’s footprint, adding to its 30,000 sq. ft. facility in Everett, MA (a five minute drive from the Chelsea warehouse). The lease, which begins in October, will allow the Everett location to focus on making beer and adding tank space, while the Chelsea location will serve in a supportive role, storing raw ingredients and finished product.
This news comes just a few weeks after Night Shift landed a $3M loan to significantly increase their production from last year, and double it in 2017. Already this year, the brewery’s production is up 181% over 2015. The warehouse in Chelsea will enable them to fully realize this growth, providing sufficient storage capacity that includes 10,000 sq. ft. cold storage, 10,000 sq. ft. dry storage, and 10,000 sq. ft. office space. It will also enable more effective wholesale self-distribution, with the space offering numerous tailboard loading docks, parking space for delivery vehicles, and increased cold storage for growing wholesale volume.
The cold storage, in particular, will help the brewery maintain its emphasis on world class beer by keeping its product as cold as possible for as long as possible. “We want to sell beer that always tastes fresh,” noted co-founder Michael Oxton. “All of our beer will be packaged cold, stored cold, and, if it’s not going through the Taproom, self-distributed in our refrigerated box trucks. Maintaining a complete cold chain beer life-cycle is paramount in our commitment to quality beer.”
The additional warehouse space will also allow the brewery to make changes to its Everett facility, including the addition of a temperature-controlled barrel room, a 4000 sq. ft. in-house cold storage space, and potential production expansion in the future.
