New Glarus Brewing News for Winter 2012
We are happy to announce that the New Glarus Brewing Company’s 2012 Brewing Schedule for January through March has been released. We are planning on releasing the rest of the year’s schedule in stages, to allow us more flexibility to explore and create new and exciting products, as well as possibly bring back some old favorites. We are always working on new ideas for products that we hope will surprise and delight our customers.
Expansion:
The increasing demand for New Glarus Brewing Company’s unique beers, has made an expansion of the Hilltop Brewery necessary. This expansion will bring our production up to 150,000 barrels per year.
We are planning on expanding a number of areas, including the production area, and the Quality Control Lab. We are also planning to enlarge our office space and our retail gift shop area to give our visitors a more comfortable shopping experience.
We have not yet set a start date for construction, since that can be affected by so many things, not the least of which is our Wisconsin weather.
This expansion will help us to continue supplying our state with our fine beer, and we will be continuing to be only available in Wisconsin.
Production:
We project this year’s production at approximately 108,000 barrels, and we are anticipating a 10 – 15% increase next year.
Being Green:
Being energy efficient has always been a priority at New Glarus Brewing Company, and we are always looking at new and innovative ways to minimize our impact on the environment, and be as eco-friendly as possible. We have sought out experts to discuss a variety of options for our expansion to use solar and wind powered energy. We are also looking at a reclamation process to recycle and reuse the steam generated in our production processes to assist in the heating of the brewery.
Challenges:
Our greatest challenges come from the need to open new doors for our retail sales. The large brewing companies still hold persuasion tools that can limit all craft brewers ability to get on retail shelves. We plan to open those retail doors and shelves with a combination of our award winning beer and excellent customer service.
Local Ingredients:
We have always used as many local ingredients as possible. Our commitment to our local vendors and to our customers is a high priority.
