Highland Brewing’s Schenk’s Cream Ale Returns August 1st
(Asheville, NC) — Schenk’s Cream Ale is one of the most fabled beers in Highland Brewing Company’s repertoire. Being re-released on August 1st as beer #10 in its their “20 Beers for 20 Years” series, this storied cream ale has always been a crowd favorite and is a nod to Highland’s past. Schenk’s Cream Ale was first brewed in 2008, after tattooed home brewer Aaron Schenk won Best in Show with this recipe at the 1st annual Highland Cup Competition. The prize was his beer being bottled and distributed by Highland.
Cold-fermented with ale yeast, Schenk’s Cream Ale is similar to a domestic lager. A touch of corn and rice give it a subtly sweet nose and familiar flavor. These flavors are balanced in the finish by the crisp bitterness of Mt. Hood hops. A light, drinkable summer beer!
