Great Notion Brewing Announces Berkeley Taproom in Former Torpedo Room
(BERKELEY, CA) – Pacific Northwest-based brewery Great Notion Brewing (GNB), best known for its fun, tech-forward business model plus hazy IPAs and “culinary-inspired” beers is excited to announce it has signed a lease in the Bay area! GNB will be taking over the famed Torpedo Room located at 2031 4th St, Berkeley, CA, 94710 with hopes to open by the end of the year.
Great Notion will offer 16 taps of draft beers, including core beers like Ripe, Juice Invader, Blueberry Muffin and Ledge, as well as rotating fun smoothie beers such as Mellifluous, sours like Jammy Pants and Key Lime Pie and culinary-inspired stouts like Double Stack imperial stout with maple and coffee! Customers will also be able to order packaged 16oz cans to-go through Great Notion’s mobile app and website. They can come pick it up, have it delivered right away or shipped next-day.
GNB had been looking for the right spot to open a taproom in the Bay for awhile now. The brewery was close to pulling the trigger on spots in Oakland and Sacramento, but the timing just wasn’t right. Luckily Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo Room was no longer the best fit for them and it fell into Great Notion’s lap already built out! The GN leadership team has some personal ties to Berkeley so Fourth Street feels like home to the brewery.
Great Notion’s Berkeley location will be 2,000 sq ft with a rad patio. Initially, hours of operation will be Tues-Thurs 12-9, Friday 12-10, Saturday 11-10, Sunday 12-7 and closed Mondays. The brewery plans to kick off the food program with artisanal charcuterie and cheese boards, among other items from local purveyors.
