Follow-up On Jeff Bagby Departing from Pizza Port Carlsbad
Yesterday, we passed along word from SanDiegoBeerBlog.com that multiple medal winning Jeff Bagby of Pizza Port Brewing is departing from Pizza Port Carlsbad to start a new brewery venture. We touched base with Jeff to get a much info as we can on the breaking news. Hope you enjoy, Cheers!
JB: “There isn’t much more to tell than what is apparently already out there. I gave notice in late October and I will be working for Pizza Port for the rest of the year. Nacho will be taking over my brewing position and as of now the owners will not be getting a replacement for my Operations position. I will be taking a short but well needed few days off at the beginning of January and then I will begin full time work on my own brewery project.”
TFP: So for those of us who have never heard of “Nacho”, what’s his real name?
JB: “Ignacio Cervantes.”
TFP: Any details on where this new brewery will be (Los Angeles Please!!)
JB: “No details yet. I’m not that far along yet. The goal is North County San Diego.”
TFP: Will Pizza Port Carlsbad still work with Tom and Tomme on the Strong Ale, Belgian and Real Ale Festivals without you?
JB: “Tomme hasn’t worked on the festivals since Strong Ale last year. Tom and I will continue to throw the festivals in Carlsbad as we have for many years. Although it looks as if the 2012 Real Ale Festival will be the last San Diego Real Ale Festival.”
