DuClaw Brewing Company Announces Release of Bourbon Barrel Retribution Series
Fans Become Gluttons for Punishment When it Comes to Single-barrel Bourbon-aged Imperial Stout
Baltimore, MD (September 17, 2012) — October will be the month of reckoning, leaving beer lovers at the mercy of DuClaw Brewing Company and four epic variations of the leading Maryland-based craft brewery’s Single-Barrel Bourbon-aged Imperial Stout, Retribution.
First brewed in 2011, Retribution is a full-bodied, imperial stout boasting a smooth, roasted malt flavor, aromas of rich espresso and dark chocolate, and strong 11.2% abv. It is then aged for six months inside charred Kentucky white oak Bourbon barrels to infuse it with the natural vanilla and caramelized sugar flavors of the Bourbon-soaked wood. Each barrel of Retribution is bottled individually, making each bottle run a unique drinking experience.
“Each barrel adds its own individual twist to the beer,” said President David Benfield, “so creating single barrel bottle runs that would allow beer lovers to experience the incredible range of flavor profiles from barrel to barrel was a no-brainer.”
Retribution returns to store shelves in 22oz. bottles and taps on October 10, 2012, followed three weeks later on October 31, 2012 by three limited edition variations of the beer: Cocoa Retribution, aged with cocoa nibs, Cocoa Vanilla Retribution, aged with cocoa nibs and real vanilla beans, and Divine Retribution #2, a blend combining Retribution with Repent Belgian Pent Ale. Each version will be available in 22 oz. bottles at liquor stores and beer retailers throughout Maryland, DC, and Pennsylvania, and on tap at select restaurants and bars in the same markets, including DuClaw Brewing Company restaurant locations in Bel Air, Bowie, and Arundel Mills.
