Details on Upcoming Cigar City Brewing Collaboration
We just got details on the upcoming Cigar City Brewing Collaboration with Grassroots and Hill Farmstead. Read on for these details we got from Joey. Enjoy!
It will basically be a CCB, Grassroots (Denmark) and Hill Farmstead (Vermont) affair. It got started when Ryan, who used to work for Duck-Rabbit but now works for Grassroots in Denmark discussed with Shaun Hill who is involved in both Grassroots and Hill
Farmstead (and formally Norrebro where he recently won a few golds at World Beer Cup) doing some collaborations with American breweries. Ryan knew Wayne from when Ryan was at Duck-Rabbit and Wayne was at Foothills. And I’d met Ryan at a beer tasting a few years back so Ryan had been following CCB since before we opened.
Hill Farmstead is getting a lot of buzz lately for some stellar beers and Shaun along with Wayne (and our other brewers Doug Dozark and Tim Ogden) and Ryan have been hashing out the recipes for the beers we’ll be brewing via email for some time now. We have final recipes for two beers and right now the plan (which may change) is to brew two slightly different beers packaged together. We have been calling the beers “TransAtlantic IPA’s” as we are juggling making dark, hoppy beers using ingredients that would be easily accessible in Denmark for one of the beers and ingredients we can get in the US for the other.
The plan right now is for Shaun and Ryan to come to Tampa in September to brew the two beers and then hopefully to send Wayne to Denmark to brew another beer in the collaboration. We still need to settle on a name for the twin beers and get labels made up. Stay tuned for those labels at thefullpint.com.
