Deschutes Brewery – Deschutes Armory XPA – 22 oz.bottle poured into a goblet. 5.9% abv.
Appearance: The X isnt for extra. This “pale ale” is a dense amber with a quickly subsided cap.
Aroma: Classic Deschutes tropical fruit/malt aroma. Honey dew and soft pine.
Taste: Honey dew, pine biterness, toasted sweet malt, finished with an earthy twang. Very familiar.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied average carbonation.
Overall: A very familiar flavor profile, I would be able to quickly identify this as a Deschutes hoppy ale immediately, very close to all the Hop Henges and NWPAs I’ve sampled over the years. Very easy to drink, and lots of character.
