Crooked Stave Petite Sour Passion Fruit & Progenitor Release Details
(Denver, CO) – On Wednesday, June 3, Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project will release Petite Sour Passion Fruit and its second batch of Progenitor Dry Hopped Sour. Both releases will take place at the brewery’s taproom (3350 Brighton Blvd) at 6:00 p.m. MST.
Progenitor (6.2% ABV) is a Golden Sour, primary fermented with Crooked Stave’s mixed culture of Brettanomyces yeast and bacteria before receiving a heavy-handed dose of dry hopping. Crooked Stave released its first batch of Progenitor at its taproom in February of this year.
“Progenitor is a unique look at the sour style,” said Chad Yakobson, Crooked Stave Owner/Head Brewer. “All beers were once sour so we are honoring the primitive version of beer, but with a modern twist by using a heavy dry hopping regimen. Progenitor allows us to show off our Brettanomyces yeast, which leaves a dry and clean beer, with rustic, earthy notes that complement citrusy and tropical hops very well.”
Crooked Stave will also release Petite Sour Passion Fruit on Wednesday, June 3. Crooked Stave first released Petite Sour Passion Fruit to its Cellar Reserve members in 2013. Due to its popularity and the brewery’s love of the beer, Crooked Stave is releasing a new batch to the public at its taproom.
The June 3rd release of Petite Sour Passion Fruit marks the sixth release in Crooked Stave’s Petite Sour series. Petite Sour Passion Fruit (5.5% ABV) was primary fermented in oak with Crooked Stave’s mixed culture of wild yeast and bacteria, and then received the equivalent of over a pound per gallon of passion fruit juice.
