Heavy Seas: “We are doing something interesting with the folks from Buffalo Trace Distillery. Buffalo Trace is Hugh Sisson’s bourbon of choice. Over the past 18 months we’ve been aging several of our Mutiny Fleet beers in bourbon barrels. So why not bring the 2 together?
On January 29 at the Beer Bourbon & BBQ fest in NYC, Hugh and Bufflao Trace head distiller Harlen Wheatley will hold tasting sessions in the afternoon. Heavy Seas has created a one time very special batch of our Siren Noire which will have been aged nearly 3 weeks in a Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel. Beer & bourbon fans will be able to sample this from a firkin that afternoon. This is a really great opportunity for folks to learn how their barrel aged beers come to be. Literally from start to finish.” Here’s the link to the sessions http://www.beerandbourbon.com/new-york/schedule
BrewDog: Reports have been flying in of many breweries successful 2010 business. BrewDog has shared a document, which in turn I will share with you, entitled 2011 Masterplan for World Domination. It’s a beautiful ‘investor relations’ type of report outlining BrewDog’s industry achievements, as well as a look at how they plan on attacking the industry in 2011. Well written, easy on the eyes. Left Hand: After a two year hiatus, Left Hand will be available again in South Carolina. Left Hand will be taking a break distributing to Alaska, The Florida Panhandle, Mobile Alabama and the greater Knoxville Tennessee area. This is due to slow sales and other undisclosed reasons. On a happier front, they will be releasing two new beers this year, Stranger APA in February and TNT Doppel Weizenbock in March. Click here to see the label for Stranger, click here to see the newly redesigned Black Jack Porter label. As of this writing, the TNT label hasn’t been approved by TTB.
The Bruery – Snag up bottles of 3 French Hens if given the chance. This beer is sold out at Bruery Provisions as well as most Whole Foods and Liquor Stores here in surrounding areas. To put this in perspective for those wondering why I think this is of note, Partridge in a Pear Tree was sitting on shelves a good year after it was put on shelves, and 2 Turtle Doves was still sitting at a few liquor stores and Whole Foods a good 8-9 months after it’s release.
