Craft Beer News Roundup: Brooklyn, Founders, 3 Floyds, The Bruery and Flossmoor Station
The Full Pint has their beer loving fingers on the pulse of the craft brew industry.
As such, here are some quick news items about Brookly Brewery, Founders, 3 Floyds, The Bruery and Flossmoor Station. Cheers!
Brooklyn Brewery- “We’re still finalizing the name, we can report that the next beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve line is inspired by a cocktail (similar to our Manhattan Project) that uses Scotch, ginger, honey, and lemon. It’s promising to be quite delicious!”
Founders – While everyone is buzzing about Cigar City’s Hunahpu’s Release, Founders is releasing one of their biggest hits, Kentucky Breakfast Stout aka KBS this weekend. “Our KBS has almost completed its long journey–from our brewhouse, to our cellar, to oak bourbon barrels shipped in from Kentucky, to age for a year in the caves beneath Grand Rapids, then back to our brewery (photo below), out of the barrels, either into kegs or onto our packaging line (read: bottles), into a glass, and, ultimately, into your mouth. It’s a journey filled with love and dedication from the Founders Family, and we are excited to be able to share the finished product with you very soon (this Saturday, March 12, in our taproom, and Tuesday, March 15, everywhere else).”
3 Floyds – DarkLordDay tickets were scheduled to go on sale March 17th, 2011. Then many St. Patty’s Day fans got all upset, so 3 Floyds bumped the golden ticket sale to March 18th. While there are FAQ’s on darklordday.com, there is still much mystery surrounding the party this year, so please stay tuned. We got info from a reliable source near the brewery that there is such high demand and low supply that 3 Floyds isn’t entertaining growler fills at the moment.
The Bruery – Keeping up with The Bruery’s releases is getting to be a full time job. Per their tasting room emailer, they will be pouring a beer called Four Schizzles this weekend. According to the note, it’s a beer brewed for Beachwood BBQ’s Anniversary and the first rating at BeerAdvocate indicates it’s a blended red sour ale. Last year, it was Dirty Beaver Juice Weekend aka Melange #5 which was an amazing blend of strong ales.
Flossmoor Station– “We are having a tapping on March 22nd, at 7pm for our Saison & Garfunkle Belgian saison. This saison was a small collaboration with an eatery in the Wicker Park area of Chicago, so we wanted this beer to be easily paired with food.”
