Bootlegger’s Brewery – Tons of News
Here’s a message from Fullerton, CA’s Bootlegger’s Brewery. Head Bootlegger Aaron updates us on happenings at the brewery/tasting room, distribution, some new beers and more.
Fellow Bootleggers,
We’ve have a lot of exciting stuff going on! We got into BevMo, took over the rest of our building, increased capacity, added a view to our tasting room and planned our first Halloween Party! Read on for more details
–General Happenings Around the Brewery—
About a week ago we finally picked up our new shiny fermenter, increasing our capacity significantly. We are hoping this new fermenter will give us a little breathing room to brew more limited release beers. You can expect to see a few new releases coming up in December (see below)
–Tasting Room–
For those of you that have stopped by in the last week, you may have noticed our new view from the tasting room. We are very excited about this improvement, and if you haven’t been by to check it out we highly suggest you stop by, grab a beer and watch the trains. In addition, we also added another improvement(approved by Chief Scooter Officer Jonah), an original Atari Joust arcade game (yes we are geeks like that). Also, starting this week we will have free WiFi during tasting room hours! And finally, in response to the many requests we have received, we have finally added some more small tables.
Just to reiterate our tasting room hours are:
– Thurs & Fri 4-9
– Sat 2-9
– Sun 12-6
–Locations–
We recently were approved by Bevmo! If you don’t see one (or all) of you favorite Bootlegger’s beers, be sure to request it from the store manager. Each store has the ability to order our beers, but some still won’t unless they receive enough requests.
–Beer Releases–
Pumpkin Ale – While draft of this beer has already been release, we were a little late to the party for releasing bottles, but they will finally be available starting on Friday 10/29.
Knuckle Sandwich – We realize now from the many calls and emails we get each week that people want more. We just want everyone to know we are doing our best to ramp up our production of this beer. Expect to see more in bottles and draft out around mid-November with a steady supply through December and January.
Imperial Black Phoenix – This is a beer we have been brewing on a pilot scale for over a year now and are finally almost ready to release it. Like the Black Phoenix, it is brewed with coffee and chipotle peppers, unlike the regular Black Phoenix, we amped up the chipotle, and used subtle amounts of smoked malt and black pepper to help round out this 10% ABV beer. We have been very pleased with the resulting beer and are currently working towards a release date sometime in December.
SoCo IPA – We received overwelmingly positive responses to the first large batch we brewed of this citrusy and dry IPA. To clear up any confusion, we named it after an area of Fullerton (South of Commonwealth). We expect to be brewing this much more often in the near future. Look for the next release of this near the end of November.
Winter Ale – Mint Chocolate Porter! – Yes, we are brewing our Mint Chocolate Porter this year, and we even plan on bottling it this year! Expect to see this in circulation in early December.
–New Full-Time Employees–
Randal Dilibero – Brewer – We count ourselves as lucky for being able to hire someone with the wealth of knowledge Randal brings with him. With experience at breweries such as Lagunitas and Mendocino, Randal is helping to transform our brewing operation into a much more efficient operation, and you know what efficiency means…more beer!
Mika Soriano – With more beer comes more paperwork (no this isn’t a famous quote…but maybe it should be). Mika has stepped up to working full-time to help with bookkeeping and various other office duties. You might even see her helping out in our tasting room too!
Calum Barkenhagen – Future Brewer – Weighing in at 7lbs 7 oz, he hit the ground running(figuratively) on August 6th and in just under 3 months has already taken on responsibilities such as directing the activities of ALL the office staff.
