Beloved Actor Launches New Craft Beer Glassware Brand
For years now, pundits have attempted to foretell the burst of the craft beer bubble, yet the industry has offered only disappointment to its critics. On its surface, the seemingly depthless reservoir of market capacity remains placid, though underneath, it furiously churns to absorb new entrants comprised of career-switchers, homebrewers-turned-pro, and well-connected, admired brewers long overdue to launch their own operation.
However, 2019 will bring with it the ultimate test of market saturation, as Hollywood actors turn their focus to the darling beverage category, given the successes observed with spirits brands. (Casamigos Tequila by George Clooney, Aviation Gin by Ryan Reynolds, and Virginia Black American Whiskey by Drake to name a few)
Though perhaps suggested by the title, if you expected our reveal to be at least tangentially associated with beer, please temporarily suspend rational thought for the balance of this article – the red, fuzzy, annoyingly charming puppet from Sesame Street has recently announced his transition from television to entrepreneurship, starting with craft beer glassware and streetwear.
Now strictly answering to the alias ‘Mo Money’, the joyful puppet well-known and well-liked throughout households across the globe has decided to launch the startup by the same name, Mo Money Glass and Streetwear Creations Worldwide, Inc. The admittedly catchy slogan “For the Street. From the Street.” hearkens to the former actor’s deep roots in the iconic television show, yet connotes maturity to an unexpectedly edgy vibe.
“We are very passionate here at Mo Money. I think consumers will recognize and appreciate that passion through the high quality products we choose to develop and offer.”
For those unfamiliar with product segments adjacent to beer, the popularity of collectible glassware has burgeoned in recent years. Originating with traditional glasses from the likes of Cantillon, intended to serve a functional purpose through optimizing the beer drinking experience, the design-focused resurgence of collectible glassware has been catalyzed by comparatively new breweries like The Answer Brewpub.
Largely fragmented, yet flourishing, the glassware segment has attracted inept, irreverent startups and has contributed to the growing prevalence of limited merch releases by breweries and bars.
Candidly, Mo Money seems well-positioned to enter and succeed in the sub-category, given its powerful network of resources and business acumen. The entrepreneur has exclusively shared with us plans to launch the first product online (momoneyglass.com) next Saturday, June 15th.
To spread awareness and promote the launch throughout the upcoming week, the ex-actor has enlisted Permanent Hangover, one of the particularly incompetent startups alluded to above, for an official “Takeover” of their Instagram account. Needless to say, my interest is piqued, as I am over-excited to watch the endeavor unfold to tragically crash and burn.
To stay informed of Mo Money’s debut product release and bear witness to the train wreck, tune into @permanenthangover for the week-long Instagram Takeover starting today (Saturday, June 8). Check out the Mo Money Glass and Streetwear Creations Worldwide, Inc. website at momoneyglass.com
