Review – Stone Imperial Russian Stout 2008
Stone Imperial Russian Stout 2008
22oz bottle poured into a pint glass. 10.8% abv
Appearance:
Jet black with a dark tan pin stripe head.
Aroma:
Smoke, dried dark fruit like raisins, prunes, or currants. Some black licorice hints as well.
Taste:
Coffee all the way. The beautiful flavor and the bitterness of it. Hints of wood smoke, and far less hoppy than last years bottle fresh.
Mouthfeel:
Burning with alcohol, although the alcohol note isn’t in the taste. Not as syrupy as other breweries Imperial Russian Stouts.
Overall:
Would like this to mature. Seems different from last years offering. Seems less hopped up, which is still ok with me. This will knock your socks off, it has so much flavor. It should be shared with a friend, and if you can get an extra bottle, save it for a year.
