GABF 2011 Night 1 – Initial Reaction
The flight to Denver was smooth sailing… er flying. As luck would have it, Jonny and I sat next to the lovely and talented Paige Reily of Tony’s Darts Away.
Just to drop some more names, Clay from 38 degrees caravaned us and the bosses of Blue Palms Brewhouse. We got to the opening festival right on time, and we got let in a few minutes before the general public.
My first impression is that this is more like a trade show than a “beer festival.” Just think of the biggest Home Depot you’ve ever been to, turned into a beer show. Perfectly laid out isles of brewers, organized by region
While there are many voluneteers that are not tied to the beers being poured, there are so many familiar faces that we’ve met over the years, as well as people we’ve only talked on the phone or email.
The 1 oz pour!!
So the thing that has intrigued me most is the 1 oz. pour. Granted, we are in the Mile High City, I just wondered how you can get to know a beer within a 1 oz. pour. Well my friends, not only can you get a great idea of the beer within the confines of 1 oz., you will start to feel the effects after a few beer shots.
Anyway, enjoy these pictures, we will be back soon with more updates on the craziness of GABF!
